Anyone knitted these combishorts? I am trying to do the size 1, knitted right leg ok, but when l do the left leg, pattern says do same as right rev shapings. Which l get, the 6 stitch rib is at the beginning of the row and the increases are straight after this rib, but as to where do l begin the pattern l am confused. Now knitting this leg the 2nd time and trying to work pattern out from when l actually put the 2 legs together!! Any help much appreciated.
Yes, this is it!! Can you help at all PLEASE, as you can see by photo, there is a “slip 2, knit 1 PSSO” in the middle of where the legs meet, which works with the right leg pattern. But didn’t workout with the left leg pattern l had done.
Welcome to Knitting Help!
GG, thanks very much for the link to the photo.
How many rows off are you at the join? Could you adjust the number of rows on the left leg pattern (add or subtract 1 or 2 rows) so that the patterns will meet up correctly? Perhaps you could adjust both legs to make the pattern match up. I don’t think the difference in number of rows would be very noticeable, especially on a baby. Adorable pattern!
Thanks ladies for your help, l do appreciate it, the trouble is working out the actual pattern stitch to follow after l have done the 1st six stitches of rib. If l follow the right leg pattern, it began with knit 2 stitches, knit 2 tog, knit 9, ywfd knit 1,* ywfd knit 8, sl 2, knit 1, psso 2 sl sts, knit 8, ywfd k1* rep from * to * ending with yfwd, knit 9 sl1, psso, knit 2.
The trouble is l assume l have to work backwards from the left to the right, as rib cuff is at the beginning of the left leg, and l would think l would finish the last 4 stitches with a sl 1 psso, knit 2.
Can you tell l am new to this, l thank GG and Salmonmac for your suggestions. ![]()
It looks like you should be able to work the pattern as given and the sl 2, k1, psso 2 sl sts should fall at the join. That’s not what’s happening?
How far off from being able to join in pattern do you think you are? Can you increase or decrease a stitch to get in frame with the pattern?
I found the pattern and then was in over my head. LOL I do think a picture of what you have could be helpful. Is this possible?
Thanks GG, will try and take photo, & post in minute.
Not sure if this image worked. This is of right leg, as you can see it has the slip 2 knit 1, psso (2) in middle, which l’m sure the left leg would have too. The 1st time l did it l just started the pattern as quoted after the 6 stitches of rib, and that didn’t work out when l put the legs together.
Have tried attaching my photo but it doesn’t want to work, get to uploading photo, then comes up with this page can not be displayed.
See if you’re following one of the methods for uploading a photo in Jan’s how-to.

Thanks Salmonmac, have downloaded one of those conversion sites, and hopefully now the picture shows up!! Also l was determined yesterday to tackle this knitting problem, and so decided to try doing the pattern row backwards on the left leg. Well it just about worked out when l put the legs together, only had to knit about two lots of two stitches together to then have correct pattern all the way across the row for the body of the outfit. It was only 1 row, the 3rd row (which was the pattern row) that just was explained well at all. Why couldn’t they actually print that row for the left leg!!!
Looks good! Sometimes in trying to be concise, a pattern editor leaves you with too many blanks to fill in. You did very well with this one, for sure.
Thanks for your confidence. How do l do the “thanks” thing on this site? Hopefully l will post a pic when completed!! This for my 1st grandchild, who is adopted (parents still waiting to pick up). Its been about 9 years of waiting!!! So really wanted to do this little outfit:woot:
Congratulations to your whole family! That’s wonderful news.
Congratulations! I’m happy for all of you. This will be a lovely gift.
