Beginning a new coloured stripe

Hiya…

I’ve been knitting a scarf that’s going to be alternate stripes. So far I have the first stripe done without any mistakes, which I’m really pleased about!

Now I’ve been looking at the videos for joining a new colour yarn, and can’t decide which one is best… I’d like the new colour to start at the beginning of a row, but previously I’ve been throwing the first stitch, so how would this work with a new colour?

Any advice would be much appreciated!!

Thanks,

I don’t understand what you mean by ‘throwing the first stitch’, do you mean you’ve been slipping it, (to give a nice neat edge)?

If that is what you mean then you could still slip the first stitch before bringing the new colour into play, joining the yarn as if it were a new ball of the same colour.

You can work the tail into the first few stitches of the new colour.

Yes that’s what I meant… I haven’t quite got all this vocab down yet, but I’m getting there…

And thanks for the reply - I’m itching to start the next stripe now!!

It’s a good day - I LOVE getting good news - it just makes the whole world look rosy!!
