Beginner needs help

I need some help understanding a sweater sleeve pattern. The instructions read as follows:

“Inc 1 st at end of row, then every 6th row 12 times, every 8th row 5 times, and every 10th row 2 times.”

Does this mean that I do the every 6th row increases THEN start counting out every 8th row and after finishing those - start to count again and increase every 10th row?

Am I making any sense?

Any help would be so greatly appreciated.

Thank you,
Lin

Yes, complete all the incs on every 6th row, then the incs will be on the 8th row after that and when you’ve done 5 that way, go to increasing every 10th row.

Hi!
This is a common confusion. It reads as follows.

increase in the row you are in, that we call row 1 for this.

so your increases go:

row 1

now every 6th row so that is:

row 7
row 13
row 19
row 25
and so on until row
row 73 (row 1 plus 12 times 6 = 73)

now every 8th row (so a little slower of an increase):

row 81
row 89
row 97
row 105
row 113

then every 10th row (slowing the increase rate even more):

row 123
row 133

and then you are done increasing.

Always work of one instruction with the given number of repeats (12 times, 5 times or the like), then jump to the next instruction and do the same, then the next instruction and so on.

pretty much you read it like this:

Inc 1 st at end of row,
then every 6th row 12 times,
once you are done with this, next you do this:
every 8th row 5 times,
once you are done with this, next you do this:
and every 10th row 2 times."

edit: Suzeeq was faster, I knew she would be.

I just got here sooner… or posted a shorter reply so it didn’t take as long.

Sue is fast to answer, but those long replies take longer to type. We’ll call it a draw. :teehee:

And sometimes I don’t answer completely enough with my short replies either. But in this instance, the OP sounded like she knew what to do, just needed some reassurance.
