Beginner: I need help with changing colors

[FONT=“Century Gothic”][SIZE=“2”]
I have started to make a scarf. I want to start over because I don’t want it as wide as I made it. But I have problems when I change the colors. I don’t know how to fix it. Here are some pictures:

I hope this helps.

Do you know if there is a video I can watch so it will turn out better?

But… this is a video I seen that shows this method but I don’t know if I am doing it correctly. Obvisously I’m not.

That looks like the same yarn I happen to be making a purse out of - Knit Picks Wool of the Andes in avocado. You’re probably not changing colors incorrectly, just not on the same side each time. You will always make a color change on the same side so the rows between color changes must be an even number of rows. I think you make the change when the right side of your work is facing you. The right side of your work, or the public side, will look clean. The wrong side of your work will show the color change, which is why I’ve hardly ever seen a two color scarf, unless knit in the round and seamed on the ends. I’m a newbie myself so I hope someone will correct me if I got this wrong!

The videos for joining a new color of yarn are on this page:

That’s normal when you do 2 color work; the purl bump of the old color mixes on the one row. It looks like you’re doing stockinette, so just make sure you change colors on a knit row and that keeps the oddness to the WS.

Except for those 4 little misplaced stitches, one at the bottom of the top picture and 3 at upper left. I’m not sure what happened there.

Craw, they still make scarves that show the back side, it is “a known look”. LOL

I find this video over at videojug quite helpful. It shows you not only haw to make a scarf but how to change colors.

Hope it helps. :mrgreen:

This is the video I learned from.
Well thanks everyone. I just decided to make another one with one color. I have learned a lot in a day and I’m happy with the new scarf I am working on. I know how to k1 p1 goes and I’m happy with my progress so far.
