Bear in a bag

That’s what i was going to say. :teehee:
I’m with them!
Me too!

Wow, that’s impressive. I can’t believe you knit that.
This is a case of the fur yarn being really useful!

Ok, someone really needs to sell this kit in the USA! I want to make one!

Just did some Law and Order Dectective work. :stuck_out_tongue: Called Patons main office and they do not make the kit nor have they heard of it. So, someone from the UK must be making the kits and that is why all of the kits are in the UK and none are in the states. The yarn is, but not the kit nor the pattern.

I want ONE!!! :((:((:((

it is being distributed by coats crafts who do have a website but not an online shop

If someone could find a pattern, I think we could easily get a KAL together.

what is a KAL? I have just found someone selling them on ebay for the correct rrp and will ship to u.s go to ebay.co.uk and enter this number in the search box they say that they 170086188077 I would have done this myself if somebody else hadn’t already - ah well never mind. good luck

here is a link to the seller’s shop in case they run out

Oh he is SOOOO cute!!! Actually, I’m weak and splurged and bought him from Ebay-UK – can’t wait to get him!!! :balloons: He’ll be my reward when I complete my stash-busting baby blanket  Couldn’t find him here in the US…

FYI, for those that asked:

I bought him for about £10 (which looks to be his in-store cost over there)
1 U.S. Dollar = 0.497250 Pounds Sterling (so £x2 to get approx $)
shipping to US is about £3-4

Paypal said his total was $24.50

I also saw a “Mayka Range” bear in bag kit that looked virtually the same but was about half cost (£5 vs £10) and came in LOTS of colors

If you happen to know someone who travels to the UK, it looks like the kit is available from John Lewis (a department store over there). I used to live in the UK and it is actually where I started knitting (I miss it there)…ooohhh I love the UK’s Sirdar Snuggly baby yarn (a wonderfully soft baby yarn!)…

don’t forget to post a pic if possible I would like to see yours. What colour did you get? I think the pink one is beautiful.

That is amazing! It looks just like a store-bought bear. It looks crazy difficult.

This included everything? Sorry if this is a dumb question.

That’s what i was going to say. :teehee:
I’m with y’all! :teehee: I love that cute little teddy!! :inlove:
I’ve never worked with that kind of yarn before, it looks pretty and it’s just fit for teddy bears! :teehee:

:passedout:

oh my…

what a beautiful bear…

:inlove:

That is SOOOOOO ADORABLE!!! :cheering: Wow!!! :cheering:

Here’s what the kit includes:

PATONS BEAR IN A BAG-EASY TO KNIT CUDDLY BEAR KIT.
3 x 50 gram balls Paton’s Whisper Gem,
1 pair 3mm needles,
1 skein 5mm Anchor Tapisserie Wool, (for eyes & nose)
instructions and handmade label

I went back and looked at the bag picture posted on the web and it doesn’t have the Paton’s name or emblem on it. It must be listed as a “Patons” kit because it uses Paton yarn – and I sippose to sneakily borrow the Paton name for marketing…interesting too since I saw it for sale online at that big department store

When I get it I’ll look more closely at the info and see if I can determine where the pattern came from since it evidently wasn’t Patton’s…a KAL would be fun

Anyways, I ordered the grey/silver one as I am thinking of making it for a boy, but the pink looks super cute and if it goes well I’ll probably make a set for my girls…

Patons Bear

OK – I take that back – I think the pic of the bag was just zoomed in – it doeas appear to have the Patons name and emblem on it. Above is a link to Coats Crafts, which own/runs Patons and it shows the Bear on their UK website — maybe the US Patons Office just doesn’t know anything about it because it’s a pattern/kit they aren’t exporting at the moment. There are some email query options on the Coats Craft website…

Very nice!!! He’s turned out so well, you did a great job :cheering: :cheering:
Thanks for the pattern info, will have to see if i can find one to attempt it for myself.

Thanks try2knit for letting us know about this bear! I just ordered a kit. Can’t wait to get it. :muah:
