Bear Head

I’ve been searching patterns like crazy and can’t find the kind of “bear” I’m looking for. Basically what I’d like to do is have a teddy bear head, and the rest of the bear look like a small blanket. My son has a Winnie the Pooh bear like this that I ordered from Avon (however, it’s not knitted). I would like to knit some bears for my local hospital (my son had to go to the ER today to get stitches because he fell and had a big gash in his head, and, they gave him a teddy bear, but, it took a little while to find one, I got the impression they were running low) and donate them for the kids who go to the ER. I want a pattern that is REALLY simple and would only take about a day or two to knit so I can make a lot of them.

I still don’t have much experience knitting anything other than scarves, blankets, cell cases, and, the one sweater I’m working on for hubby and one tank I made for my daughter so I was wondering what the easiest way to make a bear head would be. Would it turn out ok if I just knit something like a swatch in the round and pulled waste yarn through the neck and ear areas to give them shape?

Thanks for any input!

This is only a tiny teddy…but you can make him bigger by making him with Worsted weight wool…

or you can likely just use his head and substitue your own blanket

Your description reminded me of this pattern. You could re-shape the ears to be more bear-like. It’s a very simpistic head, so I’m not sure how much like a bear it would really look.

Yes! That’s what I’m looking for! With a bear head, of course…lol

Here is a cute “teddyghan” pattern only it is crocheted but might give you some ideas. It is a lot bigger than the Lion Brand Bunny though. (20" x 20" + teddy head)

Buddy Bears knitted and made for charities. You could maybe use the head shape and then the blanket part from the Lion Brand pattern.

Here is one that should work if you just put a teddy bear face on it.
