Basic scarf for 2 1/2 year old. WW yarn. How many co stitches

for a basic K2 P2 ribbed scarf? I don’t want it to overwhelm her, so I’d like to keep the width down. Just a ballpark number will help.

Label says 4 stitches per inch on 9 inch needles.

Somehow I bought the brightest green Cascade wool and my niece is a fiery little redhead! Seems like she would be a good candidate for something made in this. (She’ll probably take it off and throw it anyway, but I’m going to try!)

I guess what I need to know is what is a good width for it? I can figure the math once I decide if I want it to be 4 inches wide. Does 4 sound good?

I actually just knit my son (who is 3.5) a scarf last week and I used this pattern http://www.knitsimplemag.com/pdf/scarf-ribit.pdf
It turned out perfect for hime with the cast on of 36 stitches. I did make it half the size. I just kept measuring it around his neck to see what would work best for him. HTH

Never mind, if I’m reading correctly, you stayed with the CO 36, just shortened it.

(Had my other cup of coffee!)
