I was looking through the Stitch and Bitch book in the store and I wasn’t interested in most of the patterns, but I did like the hoodie in their for women. In the photos page, it’s right across from the manly sweater, which happens to be the only other pattern I was somewhat interested in. I really don’t want to buy the whole book for 1 or 2 patterns. Can anyone direct me to a hoodie pattern like that one in worsted or bulky yarn? You know, for when I finish at least a couple of the 1 million projects currently OTN.
Let me just say that I started knitting the one from S 'n B and I didn’t like how it was coming together at all. The method for joining the pocket was strange and the way that the stitches were picked up for the hood/collar didn’t look good either. I ripped it back completely.
The photo of the other one posted above it really nice though, I like that neckline better.
Ah shoot, I hate to hear things like that. I like the SnB neckline, at least the look of it, better because I like the overlap of the split neckline. Maybe if I just look at their schematics, I can figure out how to design the hoodie myself. Very basic sweater construction, at least it seems to me so far, is not really all that hard. Just that most of the stuff on the needles/hooks these days is my own design or a modification of someone else’s or me trying to wing it. It would have been nice to have one project I don’t have to do any extra calculations for, could just follow directions.

ETA: But after googling “under the hoodie” pattern, I so like everyone’s results that I think I will try it anyway.
Don’t be sad :pout: . It was just my experience, and I found that the hoodie wasn’t “me”. You may love it!
If I could just give a few hints though…
-add more rows of trim around the bottom of the sweater because it rolls something fierce
-when you pick up stitches for that overlapping hood, make sure you do it reall loosely because otherwise it will pull and pucker and that will be noticeable from the outside of the front of the sweater.
Thanks, Queen, for the tips. I had already decided to make the bottom edge longer both because seemed like everyone said it curled and that the sweater on the whole was short ( though I kinda like my sweaters short).
