Basic decrease question

I think I understand this but I dont wanna goof up my hat. These are the directions:
Begin decreases:
1st decrease: K12 (13, 14), k2tog (repeat around). Knit next row.

So I knit 12 stitches, knit 13 and 14 together, knit 12, knit 13 and 14 together, etc until that row is done, knit next row. right>

when I look at that, I think it is giving you instructions for multiple hat sizes and the 13 and 14 are the instructions for the different sizes. do you have a link to the pattern or can you give us the information at the beginning? (especially the cast on.)

Yes, that is indicating different sizes. The 12(13,14) are probably representative of something like S(M,L). It will indicate that at the beginning of your pattern.

So if you are doing the smallest size, you would *K12, K2tog; repeat from * around. If the medium size you would K13, K2tog around, and if the largest size you would K14, K2tog around.

Oops, thanks!!
