Bamboo Socks.....Do They Wear Well?

I want to make DH some bamboo socks. I’m making some for a friend now who is allergic and it seems such a cool fabric. I’ve not found any sock yarn that doesn’t contain SOME wool and we live in the South, so I’m still searching, JIC anyone can recommend

Anyway, how will the bamboo wear as socks? Does anyone know???

I don’t know if they wear as well as wool, but there are some good options to look at, all true sock weight yarns:
Panda Soy
Panda Cotton
Mary Maxim Bamboo Stripes
On Your Toes Bamboo

The bamboo socks that I made in On Your Toes Bamboo from S.R. Kertzer have worn well. I made them for my boyfriend’s sister who is allergic to wool and she says they’re her favourite socks. I have also recently seen them and they seem to be holding up well- and she is not the most careful person- so I think that’s a good sign.

Here’s some pictures of them:

Thanks! And I will definitely look up those other yarns, I need more!

It would be great if there were a web site where you could look up yarn by weight or type and see what users rated them.

Like Ravelry?

Yeah…:whoosh:Duh!

Sorry… I lol’d. So hard.

:teehee:

I’m having one of those weeks/months/ and years!!! Knitting is the ONLY thing keeping me sane. That saying ‘I knit so I don’t kill people’ is so true to life right now! :zombie:

I’ve knit with bamboo blends and they have held up nicely.

Did anyone have a hard time acquiring gauge with bamboo? It was my first time swatching with it and I started with the required size 3s, then 4, 5, 6 and 7 and I kid you NOT, I get the same gauge for ALL!!! :eyes:

FYI, for anyone interested in bamboo yarn, just got this in an email a minute ago, $300 worth for $85 & free shipping! 50 balls of some bamboo yarn which I am not familiar with. I’m not going to buy, but for future reference if anyone has used this and can tell me if it’s a good yarn I’d appreciate it.

Maybe I’m misunderstanding this, but doesn’t that say wholesale?

Then you better put a skein and some needles in my hands right now!! :zombie: Too bad they frown on it here at work

 I hope it gets better for you soon!!! DH has had one of those weeks too.
