Back to the Ear Flap pattern

OK, this is the joining row so I assume you’ll be knitting in the round. Is that right?
Slide the 14sts and the 2nd earflap onto the needle on the right, just after the first earflap. Cast on 3sts at the very end of the needle next to the 2nd earflap. Now you’re ready to join in the round.

You’re right. If you’re ambitious, you could even make it part of a bikini!

No this one uses size 11 straight needles and has a side seam.

Ok, still, knit flat you would move the sts on your left needle in the photo to the right needle. Now that they’re on one needle, cast on 3 new sts at the tip of the needle (on the very left in your photo and my diagram). Then proceed with row 2.

Yes, I want to proceed with Row 2 which is casting on again with 3 knits, then the rest is K and P for 50 stitches BUT I don’t know which end to start on. There are 3 st on one end and 15 on the other end. I don’t know why they don’t say which end to start the 2nd row on.

Next row: (Joining row). With A, cast on 3
sts. K3, then K13 (15) from first Earflap. Cast
on 12 (14) sts. K13 (15) from 2nd Earflap.

2nd row: Cast on 3 sts. K3. P13 (15). K12 (14).
P13 (15). K3. 44 (50) sts.

3rd row: With B, knit.
4th row: K3. P13 (15). K12 (14). P13 (15). K3

The above is directions for that whole section with separations for rows.

So you’ve done the part that’s in bold correct? This is how I read it -
-cast on 3, turn,
-knit the 3 you cast on,
-purl 15 over the ear flap,
-knit 14,
-purl 15 over the ear flap,
-K3. (50 st total)

Is that easier to understand?

I want to thank all of you who helped me with the ear flap cap but I’ve decided to rip it all out and try possibly an easier pattern. I have a question right off but it needs to have its own thread so we’ll say this thread is officially closed.

Thank you all. You are priceless
