I am near the finishing point of this sweater- I just have to do the button band and the sleeves. However, I was wondering, would it look weird to do a button band for the buttons to lie on? The pattern is stockinette, so the side with the button holes will be flat, but the side where the buttons go is curling. I just thought that making a band on both sides might fix it, but I am unsure if that will look okay. https://www.ashleylillis.com/blog/2020/9/10/cozy-kiddo-cardigan-knitting-pattern

The pattern is written for a button band and a buttonhole band so it’s not a problem. You can actually do both bands with buttonholes and sew the buttons over them on one side for a girl or the other side for a boy. If it gets passed along that could be handy.

I’m pretty sure there is a band both sides in the pattern anyway and it will look great. The rib bands will stop the curling. It’s a cute sweater.

Thanks for clarifying that for me, somehow I missed that when I read the instructions!

I hope you don’t think you’re the first to miss something in a pattern. I know I’ve done it and would bet that others have too. A different set of eyes catches what will become obvious once it’s pointed out to me.
