Baby sweater pattern

ok i am making a baby sweater and am a little stumped as to what i’m supposed to be doing next. It’s probably very simple i just can’t seem to get it lol.

Here is the pattern

LEFT FRONT

1st row - K to last 11sts, p2, k7, p2
2nd and alt rows - k2, p7, k2, p to end
3rd row - K to last 13 sts, k2tog (dec for front edge), p2, k3, yfwd, sl 1, k1, psso, k2, p2 (46 sts)
5th row - K to last 13 sts, k2tog (dec for front edge), p2, k1, k2tog, yfwd, k1, yfwd, sl 1, k1, psso, k1, p2 (45 sts)
7th row - k to last 13 sts, k2tog (dec for front edge), p2, k2tog, yfwd, k3, yfwd, sl 1, k1, psso, p2 (44 sts)
8th row - As 2nd row

Rows 1 to 8 incl between * to * form patt.
Keeping patt correct (between * to *), cont dec (as before) in next and alt rows until 31 sts remain - then in foll 4th rows until 29 sts remain.

The highlighted area is where i am stuck as to what it is i am actually supposed to do. Do i just rep rows 1-8 until i have the 29 sts rem or am i only rep patt between **??

Continue rows 1-8 (all of the row instructions) until 31 sts remain. Then keep going on the rows with knit st until the * * and only decrease every 4th row (in other words, 2 more decrease rows) until 29 sts remain.

ok i get how to do the first part but i’m still unsure of what to do here

then in foll 4th rows until 29 sts remain.

That means do your decs every 4th row instead of every other one. But you’ll only need to do that once or twice.

Once you get to 31 sts, you can think of “then in foll 4th rows” as:
skip the instruction to k2tog on the next odd number row,
do the k2tog on the next odd row,
skip the k2tog on the following odd row,
do the k2tog on the next odd row,
and then you should be at 29 sts.

ok i’m stuck again… can you tell this is my first sweater lol… i just dont understand the way the pattern in written i guess

heres the rest of the pattern

Work 3 rows

SHAPE ARMHOLE - Next row - CO 2 sts, k to last 13 sts, k2tog, patt 11… (25sts)

Dec at armhole edge in alt rows 3 times, AT THE SAME TIME dec at front edge (as before) in 4th and foll 4th rows 9 times in all , noting that dec for some sizes will cut into pattern panel.
Highlighted is where i am stuck again

woops thats meant to say CO 3 not 2

Dec at armhole edge in alt rows 3 times, AT THE SAME TIME dec at front edge (as before) in 4th and foll 4th rows 9 times in all , noting that dec for some sizes will cut into pattern panel.

When you see ‘at the same time’ in patterns, it means you’re going to do different things at the beg and end the row. An ‘alt’ row is every other one. So here you’re going to dec at the armhole edge every other row, 3 times. But at the front edge you dec on the 4th row and every 4th row after that 9 times.

So when i am Dec in 4th and following 4th rows does this mean dec in row number 4 of pattern or the 4th row from where i am up to in patt now (which is row 4 of patt)… and with the dec in alt rows does that mean i am to dec in rows 5,7 and then 1? (patt in 8 rows total)

I mean only in row 4 of patt or in every 4th row ie row 4, row 8, row 4?

Dec in the 4th row from the previous directions - Next row - CO 2 sts, k to last 13 sts, k2tog, patt 11… (25sts) Do 3 rows after that (with the armhole edge decs every other row) and on the 4th row you begin the front edge decs too.
