I started making this little cape. However, I am at the end of the increases and then it says to split for side vents. I am using the right thickness of yarn but it seems like what I have got is too small to start separating for side vents- My piece is only 4.5 inches so according to the picture, I think it is too short to start the side vents. I think I should have at least another 4 inches before I make those. Did I do something wrong? https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/baby-gaga
Are you using the weight of yarn the pattern calls for? I find nothing about gauge so no estimation from the number of rows knit is possible. Babies are small so the length may well be what’s needed.
