Baby Button Shoes

baby button shoes (Pinterest) is my plan but I have a video in Russian, and one in German. There are no instructions and the video isn’t particularly clear.

Super cute! Good luck with the translations.

I like those, such a neat looking design! Hopefully you’ll be able to work out how to do them.

This is so nice booties and not to much complicated. I make similar design but on DPN. Making sole or bottom part are same. If you need more help message me

Yes please.

I can do the tab, 9 stitches, 25 rows, fold, join by knitting, knit 1 row. The Russian version does something weird for the selvage edging, the German version appears to be a little more straight forward.

German translates as
K4, yo,k,yo,k2,yo,k2. I think 3 at each end makes more sense. I also think I only need 2yo and not 3.
2nd row knit

K3(selvage), k,yo,k,yo,k, k3 selvage =9+2 yo
Knit
K3, k2,yo,k3,yo, k2, k3 selv= 13 +2 yo but I am 2 stitches short. The holes would be right, the selv would be right

Would you look at your pattern to see how the pattern is set up all the rest is fine I sort of get it but I just need rows 1 and 3 to get going.

Any help gratefully received.

Is this for the fan shape that will form the front cap and instep of the bootee?

R1: K3(selvage), k,yo,k,yo,k, k3 selvage =9+2 yo
R2: Knit
R3: K3, k2,yo,k3,yo, k2, k3 selv= 13 +2 yo

You should be 2sts short of the 13 given in the pattern. Row 1 ends with 11sts (the 9+2yo).
Row 3 requires 13sts as written but where did the extra 2sts come from?

It could be that there is a yo missing at the sevedge on each side.
That would make the pattern:
R1: K3(selvedge),yo, k,yo,k,yo,k, yo, k3 selvedge =9+4 yo
R2: Knit
R3: K3, yo, k2,yo,k3,yo, k2, yo, k3 selv= 13 +4 yo

At least that’s one possibility.

Looking at the picture there are two eyelet holes that run down the front and yes it is knitting from the tab down. When I get home tonight I am going to try your 3 rows. It looks like it’s 10 holes and from the Russian it ends in 53 stitches.
So should be 3 selvage, 13, hole to hole 21, 13, 3 selvage. Let me see if that works

So that looks correct because by the 29th row I have 53 sets

20th row not 29th.

It may take to row 21 but see how it goes and let us know. They are darling bootees.

So, it looking positive. However, the 3 stitch selvedge and then the yon bunches. I found m1 lays flat but it gives me a hole which I don’t want.

I tried icord selvedge, looks nice but not what I want. Anyone any suggestions? It has to be able to pick up a garter stitch.

How do you do your selvage edge? I need a 3 stitch selvage. Rest is fine

Are you twisting the stitch when you m1? That usually closes up any hole. An alternative is a right or left lifted increase or the modified knit front and back (kfb).

In my pattern it’s only one stitch not 3. My pattern is similar only by construction of sole in the end. It starts from top of booties and finish with sole. I’m sorry for not being able to help.

Does a stockinette selvedge not work? You could pick up sts for garter stitch fairly easily in st st edge…

Yes I was researching how to m1 without a hole and I read about twisting the stitch. I think I am just going to do a stockinette selvedge, get it as far as picking up on the second colour and seeing how it looks. I promise if I get these right I am going to knit 100 pairs of these. The amount of time and energy I ve spent on them. Even just the test show has been in and off the needles at least 20 times.
