Baby Blanket

I am very new to knitting. My son is having his first baby. I want to make a baby blanket for him. I am looking for something for a beginner. Does anyone have a pattern?

Welcome to Knitting Help!!

These are very easy and all garter stitch. Introducing color really changes the look of a simple blanket.

This one is all garter and the pattern is created only by changing needle size.

Here are a few more that would be easy to make.

This one uses very thick yarn, so it would go quickly:

This one has a nice textured design:

Pretty basketweave design:
Rib Check Baby Blanket

I  this one. I did one like it in a soft, bright colored verigated yarn and (Bonus) it looks like it was really hard…only you (and other yarn people) will know how easy it was!

I used Hobby Lobby’s Baby Bee, Sweet Delight Pomp, color was Crayon. I knit it with two strands together and I loved the way it turn out!

I made this one before. See here. http://swcheng15.xanga.com/682061467/so-i-guess-this-is-how-i-start/

Then the Rib check pattern Shandeh also recommended…

Both are super easy.

Welcome you’ll love knitting its completly relaxing and nerve racking all at the same time lol. I’ve made 2 baby blankets each took about a week to do. I’m including the link that inspired my blankets, but I used machine washable chenille (pricey but soft at $8 {cnd} a spool) then I knitted squares about 12 cast on so a 12x12 square. I used 6.5 mm needles, the colors I used were white, yellow, green and blue (I had a son) then I used a whip stitch to put it all together, for that I used green. I kind of arranged them in a pattern as best as I could. Anyway I did the squares in regular knit. So theres the link mine came out kind of a pastel small patchwork type blanket more of a bassent sized is what I’d call it.
