I have completed about 75% of a baby blanket, while all the skeins were from the same dye lot, the first skein I used is completely different from the subsequent skeins. Is there a way to remove/unravel this first skein without starting completely over?
Thanks!
Been there!
Whether some of a fabric can be unraveled from the cast-on edge and how easily depends on the stitch pattern. for ex, stockinette can be fairly easy once you unpick or cut off the cast on; ribbing, forget it.
But you could cut the fabric too to remove the unwanted section, which is also almost always quicker and easier… then you can unravel the removed piece “the right way” and reuse the yarn (for something else). That’s probably what I’d do regardless if dealing with a whole skein worth of fabric.
more specific ideas/caveats would require a picture or at least more details on the patterning…
