I’d like to attach a tag to the sweaters that I make, like the tags on clothes that give washing instructions. Does anybody have experience with this? I don’t even know where to find them or how I would print them out. Any help/suggestions would be appreciated.
Hi Seabreeze,
This is a free printable gift tag that you can write care instructions on the back of.
A search on ‘Tags’ at KnitPicks will bring up some cute ones for purchase too.
HTH.
You can have small personalized tags made by various companies.
I haven’t tried this but it seems like another alternative. The technique uses printable fabric sheets.

:yay: :woohoo: :woot: I’m on my way to Joanns!!!
Thanks!
For We Care - Maine, the charity group I make items for, I worked up a file that has six tags with our logo which is available to all members. All we have to do is print, cut the tags to size, and add size, yarn content, and washing instructions. The tags can be handwritten but I use mailing labels to print the yarn type and washing instructions and add this to the back of the tag. I usually handwrite the size as I don’t know it ahead of time.

My thoughts on the printable fabric products. In the past, I used such an item for quilt labels and they weren’t always colorfast in the wash. It’s been a number of years ago and I don’t remember for sure which product I used, probably June Taylor. But unless they’ve improved drastically in the last few years, I’m not sure I’d use it for anything you want to be able to wash and still be legible. Or maybe it was the printer ink back then? I’d definitely do some testing first.
Very good point. A test in the wash in the manner the garment will be washed or even under slightly more extreme conditions is an excellant idea. If you try it out, let us know how it turned out, please.
