I recently made a newborn baby blanket, and have some little croched bear heads I want to attach, but I’m not sure how to go about this… Since it’s for a baby, I want to make sure they are secure, but I don’t want the thread to show from the other side. Is there a particular stich I should use or thread weight? The blanket was made with size 8 needles and the bears measure about 1 1/2 inches across. Help needed! The baby is due in 2 weeks!
Thanks!
The mattress stitch, or invisible seam, could be used.
There is a video on this site on how to do that.
Perhaps you could use transparent thread??
Is there something like that?
If there is, aren’t that those “plastic” thin threads?
I think that would show though…
If you unply the yarn used to make the heads, you can sew with that using a tapestry ndl. The color will match and the yarn should provide a sturdy st. Try to work with slightly shorter lengths as some yarns will weaken or fray from the abrasion of being sewn. Work with as many plies as you can. If you use mattress, you can probably get the outer sts of the bear to disappear which will give a clean edge. Or you could use a whip or blanket type st if you want it to show (and those would make the head lay a little flatter.)
I’ve avoid using the nylon or clear threads as they may cut thru your yarn. If need be, you could use embroidery floss in a matching color.

I will look into some of those options, thanks! (feel free to keep advising, however…

That’s what I meant. It cuts through your yarn
