I just realized that the back of my tilted duster doesn’t look at all like the pattern’s. I think I may have mis-read or mis-interpreted the “at the same time” instruction for the bind off. I bound off r/s stitches on the right side, and w/s (purl) stitches on the corresponding w/s row, but it came out all wonky and uneven.
Any suggestions or experience in doing this step would be greatly appreciated - I’m going to frog it back to before the bindoff now (to the point where it measures the correct length before bindoff.)
Instructions that include ‘at the same time’ are usually for when you do armhole shaping and neck or front edge shaping. You do the armhole shaping at one side of the piece, and on the same row you may be doing other shaping instructions for the other side of the piece.
You can post just those rows of the pattern that include the at the same time part, and we can help you figure it out.
I just tried it and realized what I had done was to just do one side of the neck on each row - when I did one armhole and one neckline bind-off on each side, meaning I used 2 rows instead of 4, it all came out fine! Thanks so much, now I will never have to wonder about that particular trick again!
I do love learning something new about this knitting stuff - being self-taught means there’s a bunch of stuff I just try to fake my way through until I give up. Then I come here and presto! problem solved.
