I’ve not read the whole thing yet but so far it seems informative and interesting.

Double knitting acquired a particular cultural dimension thanks to its mention in Leo Tolstoy’s “War and Peace”. Anna Makarovna, the nanny, knits two socks simultaneously on a single set of needles, creating a “solemn ceremony” as she pulls one sock from the other in front of the amazed children.
Does anyone knit socks like this? It sounds amazing!
I think I saw a video about a sock in a sock on dpn to knit two at a time. I’ve read posts by some who said they’ve done it, some say never again. Not my thing.
