Armhole Bind Offs?

Having successfully managed to complete the body of my sweater I am finally onto beginning the front/back and need to bind off the armholes. However, I am incredibly confused by the instructions. They are as follows:

Work across 128 sts; bind off 14 sts; work across 121 sts for Front. bind off 14 sts (half at end of Front and half at beginning of Back). Place sts for Front on holder.

I have 270 sts on my needles. The way I read this I work 128, bind 14, work 121, bind 14. Simple right? Problem is I both worked it out and counted it out three times and there are only 7 sts left not 14 at the end of the round. 128+14+121+14= 277. No increases are called for in the body of the sweater. So how am I supposed to bind off 14 sts if there are only 7 left?? Or, am I reading it wrong and I’m supposed to bind off the 7 at the end of the round and another 7 at the beginning of the next? Any suggestions would be appreciated!

Your second thought is right. K128, bind off 14, k121, bind off the last 7sts of the round and the first 7sts of the next round. That’ll leave you with 121sts for the front, 121 for the back with 14sts on each side for the armholes.

Wonderful thank you! I assume if I have a pattern stitch I should continue working in it between the bind offs?

Yes although you may have to adjust where the pattern row begins. Sometimes the easiest thing to do is to look at the pattern you’ve knit so far and figure out how to maintain that pattern alignment.

Mercifully the pattern is a simple seed stitch so I can always just swap the knits/purls in the right places. Thank you so much for your help! I didn’t want to continue until I was certain and end up with armholes on my head or something :teehee:
