Hello! I am fairly new to knitting, this is my second sweater. I’m at the point where I’m shaping the back neck but I can’t wrap my head around what I’m meant to be doing. Please can someone explain to me how to do it in very very plain instructions, or let me know what kind of neckline shaping it is so I can look up a video online? Thank you
Welcome to KH and congrats on your second sweater!
These kind of instructions get easier the more patterns you work.
You’re going to cast off some sts then work one shoulder with the remaining sts on hold for the center neck and the other shoulder.
For the first size for example, cast off 4sts.
Knit until there are 7sts on the right needle including the stitch left after the cast off.
Then turn as you would at the end of a row. Leave the unworked sts from the left needle on a holder or waste yarn.
Cast off 3sts at the beginning of the row (this is the neck edge).
Work to the end of row, turn (the armhole edge) and cast off the remaining 4sts. Fasten off the yarn and cut it leaving about a 6inch tail.
Now for the sts on hold. Slip center 27sts to a holder.
Join a new end of yarn leaving about a 6inch tail.
Knit to the end of row, turn, work to the end of row (neck edge) and turn.
Cast off 3sts, work to end of row, turn, cast off remaining 4sts and fasten off yarn end.
Maybe this one?
Amazing! Thank you so much for your help
