Hello and Welcome
I am not from Missouri, but just wanted to say hello anyways. I am also new to this forum and it took awhile for me to hear from NC knitters. It is a fun site and I have been reading and receiving alot of good info.
Thanks for answering my post…I just finished my first sock on double point needles…I learned alot on this one…and hope the second one is easier…not that this one was hard, just made some mistakes…:knitting:
I’m about 90 miles south of St. Louis. I’ve met a ton of people who crochet but no knitters. I’m about to the point that I’m going to start posting in the personals…
Beginning knitter seaking out more expirenced knitter to share laughs over mistakes, patterns, and tips on holding those darn DPNS.
LOL:teehee:
I’m in Maplewood in St. Louis County. When you come to St. Louis holler and we’ll knit!
Where are you, Angie? I’m from Ironton.
Another St. Louisan here. I live in the city but I’m also often in all parts of the county. I’m a new knitter… and also a slow one.
Cindi I’m in Fredericktown… That’s so awesome… Maybe we’ll have to get together some day!
i, too, am a relatively new knitter. have only been successful with knitting scarves, but have made quite a few. i live in st. louis county in afton. i would love to meet local knitters to be able to learn how to read a pattern and how to make something new!

I’m just across the river from STL, in St. Charles
Hello jla721, I live on the other side of town but am often passing through or near Affton. In fact, I’m often shopping at the JoAnn’s at MacKenzie and Gravois. Would you be interested in meeting at the Bread Co or Starbucks? How about those at Loughborough and I-55? If this sounds agreeable send me a PM so we can set up a date/time. We could discuss knitting, and show our WIPs and FOs. I don’t have much to show, still learning this craft, but I’m learning something new everyday, and it be would fun to talk about it with others.
Also, anyone else in STL who’s interested in meeting could also PM me.
Cynamar, I’m also often in/near Maplewood, Brentwood, Richmond Heights areas.
And since I live in North STL city right off I-70 I could easily meet with Demonica from St. Charles. Perhaps we could find a halfway point? There’s a Bread Co. on St. Charles Rock Road near 270 that might be a good place to meet. Of course these are all just suggestions so if something else is better for you just speak up. Just PM me if any of this is of interest.
I’ve been often knitting alone in public at Shaw’s Coffee shop in The Hill neighborhood. I would like it a lot if anyone wanted to join me there.
I should also mention that I do know there are knitting groups already in this area, but I haven’t participated in any of them. One is at Kirkwood Knittery and they meet Thursday nights at 7pm. I’ve been to the store only once to buy yarn and it so happened that it was knit night when I stopped by. But I didn’t join them that night.
There is another shop in the Delmar Loop called Knitty Couture. I haven’t been there at all but their website says they also have a knit night on Thursdays at 5pm.
And there is yet another knitting group that meets at the St. Louis County Library Headquarters on South Lindbergh. I don’t know their schedule, but you can contact the library to get more information about that. I think they meet there once a month.
And I’ve heard of a knitting group that meets at Kaldi’s Coffee in Chesterfield. I don’t have any info on that group, but it probably would be easy to find.
There also may be other groups but these are just the ones I’ve heard of so far.
The Greater St. Louis Knitter’s Guild, lists an extensive array of knit-ins, also some in areas pretty far out from St. Louis city, like Arnold, Ellisville, High Ridge, St. Charles/St. Peters, Fairview Heights, IL., and more…
