Anyone in Rhode Island?

Hi,
Just wondering if there is anyone in RI and where you like to shop for your knitting…
Jen

Hi Jen. I live in Norwich CT. I sometimes go to Mystic River Yarn which is near the border. I like them a lot but their hours are a little funky so call ahead. They do have great people come eg. Lily Chin so it pays to be on their mailing list. I have also gone to Wickford RI but I found their service to be very wanting. I really liked Sakkonet Purls but its a long way for me. There is a Fabric Place in Warwick which is pretty good.

Hi Jeremy,
I’m new here, I wish I could find a way to see if someone writes me back, besides trying to remember where I posted a question and going back and looking for a response! Is there a way to do that?
I live in Newport, RI and I go to Sakkonet Purls all the time, they are great there.
There is a new shop Knitting Corner and Beadery in Middletown, RI, right next to Newport…Betsy the owner and Steph are just great! I live there, always threatening to stay on their couch when I recover from back surgery!
You are right about Wickford, they just want you to get in and out and buy…drives me crazy and only go if they are the only place that has what I need. Fabric Place is good also…a bit of a drive for me.

I live In Middletown RI and have just discovered a new yarn store. Actually it has been there for about 2 years, but it is new to me. I can not remember the name of it but it is on East Main Rd. in Middletown in a little shopping complex called Wyatt Square. I went in the other day to inquire about classes and the woman could not have been nicer. I ended up staying for about an hour talking to her and some other customers. Its a very nice atmosphere. By the way they do offer classes, several times a week.

Hi,
That is the place that I talked about in the thread! I’m in there at least 2/3 times a week. Actually I have to go there tomorrow to talked to Steph about the edge of the baby blanket I’m making. They are the greatest and that is where I learned to knit…Betsy one of the co-owners and I were in the same knitting class…the first one the store had!
Maybe I will see you in there some day!

I live in New Bedford and recently discovered Sakonnet Purls. They were really helpful! I’m from Tiverton originally so I’m surprised it took me so long. Dumb.

Hi,
I live in Newport! Sakonnet Purls is great, I love it there. I also go to “The Knitting Store and Beadery” in Middletown. Welcome aboard!

I know this post is older but I wanted to introduce myself. I’m Ellen and I live in Newport also. I love Knitting Needles on Thames St. Carolyn, the owner, taught me how to knit about six years ago and she’s become a great friend to me.
There is a group that meets at the Newport library on Wednesday nights from 6:30-9 called Fiber Therapy. It’s a fun group and I go when I can.

Hi Ellen,
I like Carolyn also, she is very nice. I go there sometimes, but usually go to the knitting store in Middletown, actually I’m going this morning, because I haven’t been there in 3 weeks! I’m having withdrawal’s, lol!
Did you by any chance, graduate from Rogers High School?
Jen

Hi Rhode Island Knitters!

As many of you are aware, knitters from KH have been collaborating to make blankets, lapghans, baby blankets, & preemie blankets for some time now.

The Oddball Baby Blankets project has become so successful that Shandeh has broken it up into regions, and I am lucky enough to be helping to organize the Northeast region.

Our worsted weight blankets are going to Bridgeport Hospital, in Connecticut.

We’ve just arranged for the Special Delivery Unit at The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia to be the recipient of any preemie blankets that we make. For those not familiar, this is a brand new, first-of-its-kind center specifically built in to allow women carrying babies with congenital heart disease or other serious congenital malformations, as well as women whose babies undergo surgery before they are even born! They are doing amazing, life-saving work. More information is available here:http://www.chop.edu/consumer/jsp/division/generic.jsp?id=85487 (sorry, don’t know how to make pretty links )

The purpose in reaching out to you all is to increase our numbers for these terrific projects. You can see the list of current projects on our blog (link in my sig below) and on the NE knitters thread:http://www.knittinghelp.com/forum/showthread.php?t=81357

If any of you are interested in participating, please PM me with your address and we’ll get you on the list. All are welcome, and new ideas for blanket themes are greatly appreciated!

Hi Jen,
I’m sorry I never answered you. I totally forgot that I was a member here:)
No, I didn’t graduate from Rogers. I grew up in PA. I’ve been going to the Knitting Corner a lot lately. I joined the sweater club on Monday nights. It’s a great group of ladies and as always, it’s fun to hang out with Steph!
Ellen

Hi Ellen,
I’ll have to check out the sweater club. I usually have to work Monday nights…
