Beautyrest makes a version of the Aero bed that is MUCH MUCH better than an “Aero bed”.
I am a volunteer EMT and when I am on duty I sleep at the fire station. We don’t have a “bunk room” so hubby and I sleep on a air mattress. I have gone through 2 aero beds in a couple years and am currently on a Beauty rest bed. The Beautyrest is the same price and is MUCH MUCH more comfortable.
The BR bed is a bit higher which make getting in and out easier. I also put a foam mattress topper on it and it is quite comfy.
I’ll have to try what GinnyG said about the foan mattress topper next time. My family just came for the holidays and since nobody wanted to sleep on the 20+ year old sofa bed I got handed down from my folks, I bought a full-size Aerobed from B3 with a 20% coupon. My sister ended up using it, but she complained that she got cold in the night (not a raised one, though I don’t know if that would’ve helped).
I DID lower the thermostat so that it didn’t go higher than 72, but that was a general request, as they were all roasting with it set at 75.
She had plenty of blankets and comforters, she said it was the bed part that was cold, even with the fuzzy cover on and sheets over that.
Oh, and my parents hate my futon, but wanted the privacy of the guest room to themselves. Since the guest room is our office but supposed to be the master bedroom, it also has a full bath inside, so they told my sister to sleep in the living room, where there are cathedral ceilings. Maybe that was also a factor.
But if it’s winter, I would be aware of the possibility of the Aerobed making folks cold. And I’m pretty sure Aerobed + electric blanket = fire, so don’t do that!
Ah, thanks for the chuckle!! :teehee: I know you are being serious, but just the thought of someone doing that makes me laugh…my sick sense of humor has developed over the 12 yrs DH and I have been together. He’s a different breed that guy, but a good guy.
I have heard that some people did get cold while sleeping on them, I’ll have to keep that in mind. And no, they are coming in June so it’ll be warm enough by then. But they will get our bed so we’re going to be roughing it on the air mattress.
I would recomend the one I have been sleeping in during the last 6 months. It’s beautyrest from Simmons. I got the twin size because I live in a studio apartment, so I decided I don’t need a bed too big to have a good night’s sleep. It’s been a good purchase. I don’t have to refill it too often (once or twice during all this time) and got it for $39.99, I think, from Walmart. It is pretty confy. I know they have a full and a queen size as well.
Just an FYI - saw the aerosport twin advertised at LINEN 'N THINGS - Buy 1, get 1 free (2 for 99.99). I would assume you could also use the 20% off coupon.
We bought one of the more expensive ones and the thing has never held the air properly. We took it brand new to my son’s to sleep on and we had to continually pump it up during the night and it makes an awful racket. We packed it up and it is collecting dust in our closet.
My parents have one that I’ve slept on many times. I might be in the minority here, but I just don’t like them. I find that my neck or back always hurt after sleeping on the Aerobed. My brother had one (it actually ended up leaking air) that I slept on for 2 nights then ended up on his couch. For me personally, I’m more confortable on a couch but some people love them.
We bought a new couch a few months ago and while its a comfy couch I just cannot sleep on it. My DH loves that couch as he’s been banished to the couch :teehee: due to his recent snoring problem and he sleeps great. It doesn’t matter which couch I sleep on though, I just can’t ever get comfy on them.
We were at Target again last night and I saw the Simmons Beautyrest one there and YIKES! it’s expensive. They had some others on sale that were pretty cheap, but I didn’t get any. I’ll have to keep an eye on the price and see if it goes on sale.
