Any Sock KAL 3

Hey y’all just a quick hello, been super busy here. Trying to get caught up on things. Long story short we went to Fort Worth, TX to buy an excursion - it was a piece of crap to say the least, with the cork in the bottle being the hood insulation was dripping with oil! :hair: So we drove back, all in all in 2.5 days we drove 1296 miles! Then we get back and I check craigslist again, turns out there’s a nice excursion here in town for a couple thousand more, with 1/2 the miles & I’ll be picking it up tomorrow - private owner! we sold the van, problems with the automatic doors, would have been over $3k to fix & the back door never closed just right, I had to play with it each time to get it to latch so I wouldnt loose my kids/stuff if it came open on the road (never happened, but still scared me).
In other news, class is going…
I just cleaned the girls room & got rid of 1/2 a trashbag of trash & a full trashbag of crap toys they never play with or refuse to pick up (china crap) & found 2 pee spots on the carpet. I knew their room smelled like dog pee but couldn’t find it. Now I’m resting for a minute & eating a sandwich before I go in and vacuum their room & treat the pee spots. damn dog.
In other dog news, she’s started snapping at the kids & took Bailey’s sandwich yesterday, when bailey called her name the dog turned and showed her teeth and growled at Bailey. I yelled and she ran to the back door. damn dog.
So…I’m looking for a home for Pearl…

Hey everyone,

Just thought I’d drop in to thank you all for your messages, the lesson went well (for a first lesson) and the children all learned something so thats good.

Christine, hope you feel better soon.

I like them a lot but, where did they get that name?

It’s the name of the pattern, by Cookie A.

That sock is pure awesomeness - love the color, love the pattern, and OMG how fast did you knit that sucker?

rache - if they learned something, you did well. My attempts at teaching children usually begin with a reminder from my mother that locking them in the closet is considered abuse, not a teaching style.

I have exciting news! My tissue samples for my research will be in the mail on Tuesday, and I have an order in for twenty brand new multi-colored microcentrifuge tube racks! AND five thousand 1.5 mL microcentrifuge tubes.

*** help… I’ve turned into someone who is irrationally excited about receiving tiny bits of bird liver and five thousand tiny tubes…

LOL I know right… I did that sock in about a week and a day. I cast on for the second sock Tuesday night. I need to work on a Charity blanket and then it is back to working on the Monkey’s. I absolutely love the color of them!

:roflhard: I think it’s quite funny, but totally understand :teehee:

Hello.

Anyone seen Chris lately?

Please say a prayer for my Aunt Grace, who at 92 years of age has been given only 24 hours maximum to be with us on this earth. Pray that her journey into heaven is easy and comfortable!

Thanks!

He’s been up to his ears with exchanges student, work and DSWMBO&A :hair:

Christine, how’s Aunt Grace? Did she go to meet her maker yet? I know you’re with the grandkids while Tanya is on her cruise, hope you’re feeling well and the kids are doing good. Just wanted you to know that I’m thinking of you all and hoping you are feeling good.

How was everyone’s weekend?
mine was pretty un-eventful; the laundry is clean, still needs to be folded & viola the house is still dirty (I’m not getting help on the weekends to clean the damn house) help! We have too much tile, it wears me out to sweep/mop it so I’ve asked Brian to do it (last weekend) & I’m still waiting.

My weekend. Someday I intend to have a relaxing one.

My grandpa had surgery on Friday to put a rod in his leg because the cancer has eaten away too much bone. (Surgery went well; the pain meds and chemo are making him nauseous, but his leg is feeling better)

Saturday I went in search of Halloween stuff. I needed a pumpkin (which I did not find) and a costume (which I got supplies for… I’m going to be a ghost ballerina).

Today I got a pumpkin and worked on my costume. This evening I heard the fire trucks go by and thought, “You know, I do smell something burning… but it just smells like toast” so I wasn’t too worried. The fire alarms were not going off.

A few minutes later, I heard doors opening and closing and a walky-talky blip followed by something about “a lot of smoke.” ummmmmmm. hmm. Maybe I should check this out.

There was a LOT of smoke, about half a dozen firemen, one of my neighbors, and three people from the apartment office out in the hall banging on one of the doors. Sure enough, someone burnt their dinner.

Lesson for the day: When there are half a dozen firemen knocking on your door… your dinner is probably done.

For sure, if it was my husband, you would still be waiting when Christmas arrives. He is retired but only likes to work outside,

I know a few people who need to learn this one, fortunately they’ve never had firemen knocking on the door!

My laptop has picked this morning to start playing up, glad I saved the essay on my memory stick but my plans are still on there and it won’t let me get them off. I’m trying to get them before I do a restart, just in case its having one of those freak outs where I have to shut down five times before it works properly. To top it all off I had a day (a whole day, as in 9-4) learning how to teach PE which has set my cold into overdrive so now I don’t feel well.

Better get back to work I guess, I’ve managed to save most of what I need on the memory stick (except the plans I have already done!!!) so now my laptop can get on with its freak out while I use the desktop.

Excuse me but this simply means the DSWMBO&A’s hamburger is still not done enough!!!

I am trying a program “Allways Sync” ( http://www.allwaysync.com/ ) to keep files on a thumb drive in-sync with my work PC. It has a setting that will allow it to run in the back ground and update files, in your sync jobs, as they change. I am in the test phase for the background updates but have used it for periodic synchronizations in the past.

In the past I liked how it worked but not that I was not able to encrypt work files. I now use TrueCrypt to create an encrypted virtual drive and run Allways Sync from there.

I just need to be a little more proactive; my secondary play Laptop (an old one of DSQMBO&A) died and I am in the process of rebuilding the hard drive. Maybe it will run faster with a new load?

Crisis over, laptop stopped freaking out after a restart and I was able to access everything again. It does this from time to time, I blame Vista (that and it lives on hibernate which probably doesn’t do it any favours).

I also finished the essay and wrote two more lesson plans, plus I feel better now - maybe I’m allergic to exercise.

Hope you are all ok!

This has been done (knitting wise) for a couple months, but just sewed on the buttons just now & she wont take it off. Guess she likes it

I can see why she likes it, it’s adorable.

Hi Friends,
I’ve been super busy (out of town, working, etc) so I’ve been reading but not posting. I hope everyone is okay!
Good news is that E seems to be over A. She “unfriended” him on FB!
YAY!
