:sun: Good Morning Socksters!!

Lieke~That is wonderful :woot:

Christine~A play date for Boots will be lots of fun :yay:

Gina~have fun painting!! :happydance:

Ullis~Welcome to the sock KAL, we would love to see pictures of your socks! Just jump on in we talk about everything here from socks to family

Hi everyone!!

Happy Mother’s Day

The yard sale is over YAY…we did ok it’s hard to make a lot with 7 families I think…and then towards the end we started doing bag sales and just divided that up…it wasn’t to bad though…yesterday we had 3/4 truck loads go to the salvation army so none of us brought any of our stuff back home :teehee:…of course they loaded Roo down with clothes and shoes though that they wanted her to have…

Nothing much planned today but going up there and hoping to get in some knit time. I hope you all have a wonderful day of knitting :sun:

Boots had a blast yesterday. He never stopped running around and around. If any of the other dogs were quiet for a while, he got them going again. He thinks he is the Alpha! He loved it! Walmart is where I got my MIL’s, but I have seen the flower solar lights in Canadian Tire.

Happy Mother’s Day!!

Happy Mother’s Day to all the mothers!:hug::heart:

Ann, I’ll be your surrogate for today. I’m thinking about you and your family. You, too Christine, but I’m not old enough to be YOUR mother!

My kids didn’t get me anything! They said they ordered something, but that could have been yesterday! Usually in our house, on YOUR day, you don’t have to do any of the work. I have a feeling today I won’t be so lucky. DD is still at school and she’s the thoughtful one. Oh well. DS is here, supposedly cleaning up his stuff that he hauled home yesterday.

T-bone steaks were on sale at the grocery store for $2.47/lb., so that’s going to be dinner (with Grub Rub on them) along with a salad and baked potato or sweet potato. Easy enough, since DH will grill the steaks and make the salad. I made a chocolate banana cake yesterday, so that’s dessert. SO yummy!

I have about half an inch to go on one sleeve of Amused. Then one sleeve and the collar to go! I CO and did the ribbing for these fingerless mitts, but the pattern is so poorly written that I’m stuck. Can anyone make out what the stitch pattern is supposed to be? I can’t read the chart key (over 40 eyesight), and I don’t know what some of the abbreviations are. :wall:I may need to find another pattern.

For those of your who are mothers, those that plan on becoming mothers one day and those who can’t be with their mothers today, Happy Mothers day.

and for anyone who does not fit in the above, have a Happy You Day today!

Hey everyone,

Thanks for all the hugs and prayers- they are much appreciated, and needed.
Yesterday was pretty hard and I had several difficult moments. We went over to Josh’s mom’s and celebrated his mom and grandma. It was nice but hard. I then went to Sn’B and had fun, but it seems that around every corner I am reminded that my mom is gone and that she won’t come back. Most people my age still have their moms and that’s what I am finding hard.

Hope you all had great a great day yesterday and I’m just glad it’s over!

 Ann :grouphug: We’re here for you & you just let us know what we can do to help make you feel better. How’s your shawl comming that you’re knitting out of that beautiful pink mmmmmalabrigo lace?

Hi everyone, I too am glad yesterday is now over; rest is something that didn’t happen. We went to Mass, then to walmart for a few groceries. Home to put those away and ‘rest’ for about 1/2 hour & then to my folks house & then to Brian’s Dads and he took us out to dinner (surprisingly no wait) and then back to his house for pie & ice cream; but I was too full! We got home about 9:30ish. I was pooped, went straight to bed esp. since the kids were allready asleep in the car; just carried them into bed.
Friday was our anniversary date night, that was about a 10 o’clock night, then Sat we didn’t get home till about the same time & last nights 9:30…I’m tired & the house is a wreck! We have company comming into town tomorrow so I prolly wont be on much. THey’re not staying with us; well not that I know of, but I’ve offered to be the ‘overflow’ home so we’ll see. Guess that’s all I know. I just wanna sit and knit on my hemlock ring; it’s so pretty!

:hug:Ann know that you are in my prayers, if you need anything let me know…sending you my love

Hi everyone I’m so glad last week is over…hopefully this week I will actually be home and can sit and knit! We met with the couple yesterday they were very nice and helpful…then JD took me out to eat…we didn’t get back home till after 8…Now today I gotta do laundry I couldn’t take the house anymore on Friday so stayed home to work on it and then yesterday morning I worked on it more…

I hope you all have a great day of knitting :sun:

Hey Friends!

Leike, Congratulations…I bet you feel so relieved!

Ann  Its ok to feel sad but know that we are all thinking about you. Take care of yourself.

Rosalie, both my kids have braces and they should get them off this summer. I always take them to eat right before or immediately after their orthodontist appts.

Dustina, can’t wait to hear you say that you are moving into your new home.

Julie, take a nap today! but it sounds like you had a great day.

Gina, on Sat DH asked what I wanted him to get me for mother’s day. I told him he should have had that bought a long time ago!! DD13 was out with her friends Sat and bought me a big bag of Peanut M&M’s…she knows what makes me happy!!

Dotty, we lived in Millington, TN for a few months. It is lovely and I know several people who retire there because of the lower taxes and cost of living.

Carey, how was Cinderella?

How do you deal with your children and their first boyfriends/girlfriends? It is fun to watch them be happy and have fun but I don’t want my babies to get hurt. I know it doesn’t do any good to worry. Oh well.

Sock on,

Ann

Well, today I had to work, so no knitting. It was a quiet day. I think I won’t be knitting much tonight. DBF is home early from work and we haven’t had much quality time together. Besides that, my wrist is hurting again, so I’m not totally sure if I can knit at all. Wore my splint today and it is feeling better than yesterday, but still painfull.

Hi, everyone!

Ullis, welcome!

Ann, HUGS to you!

Carla, Cinderella was WONDERFUL!

Lieke, I hope your wrist feels better soon!

Gina, about the mitts… on the chart key:

  1. backslashes = CR which I assume is cable right
  2. forward slashes = CL which I assume is cable left
  3. LT/PLT - there’s an explanation at the bottom of the pattern
  4. RT/PRT - also an explanation at the bottom
  5. empty square is knit stitch
  6. dot square is purl stitch

Hope that helps! It still seems a bit vague to me, but…

HAPPY MOTHER’S DAY to all the mommies! I didn’t get on the computer yesterday to say it then.

I have had a lull in my knitting interest lately, I think because everything I’m knitting at the moment is either annoying, or it’s for someone I’m not really all that interested in knitting for. That sounds mean, but I bet you guys know what I mean. I did finish the socks for one friend, so now I’m down to a lace-weight scarf for a dear friend (annoying yarn) and 2 scarves/2 hats for a mom at Emily’s school (not that interested in knitting for her… but I agreed, so… ) I need to start something that I want to knit, but haven’t decided what yet. And, I want to get farther along on the scarves/hats project before I start something more interesting, otherwise I may abandon that project all together!

Ann,:heart::hug: I can’t imagine how hard it must be. You’re in my thoughts!

Julie, WHEW! You need a nap! Hope you get some time to yourself soon!

Dustina, when did you say inspection was going to be? Hope it goes well!

Carla, I think the most important thing is to talk to your kids and LISTEN to what they say (and don’t say!). Also, agree that they can have the boy/girl friend, but they MUST tell you about it. No secret relationships. And, of course, talk to them about sex and your recommendations. Encourage them to keep their pants on and wait. Sex before they’re ready for it can do damage to their psyche that they won’t even be aware of until later. MANY kids are sexually active, but just because “everybody’s doing it” doesn’t mean they SHOULD be! (This is coming from both a mom of dating kids and a teacher who works with teen parents!)

Lieke, try sleeping with your splint on your wrist. It helps me a ton b/c I sleep with it in a poor position otherwise.

Carey, thanks for your help! She must have added the errata after I messaged her. I agree-it is still pretty vague. I decided to switch to theseafter I went to the library and found them in a book.

I subbed today and watched the 2nd half of the same movie five times. Have you seen “Expelled”? It’s pretty good, but five times is a little much. I did get a fair bit of knitting done today, including a nice start on the fingerless gloves. It’s good to have a 2nd project OTN that doesn’t bother my hands.

Ok I know that Gina has problems with little needles, but does anyone have any trouble with the big needle projects hurting your hands? I’d love to make an afghan but even the darn size 10’s with plain ww bothers me. I tried to make the anthropology capelet & ended up :frog: it because it looked like crap & the needles were hurting my hands. I then did a round on my hemlock ring; crochet thread & size 1 needles & didn’t have a problem at all. Is that wierd to the rest of you or does anyone else have that same problem?

Carey I totally understand!

Carla; I know my kids are not dating anytime soon; though it will be here before I know it. I would say to keep converstion open and ask her/him to bring their s.o. over for dinner at least once a month. Because if they’re not willing to hang out with you all for dinner and a rented movie on the couch then I’d be suspicious. just my thought.

I spent 7 years in Bartlett, Tn (for those not familiar Tennessee geography, Bartlett in North East of Memphis and Millington is North of Memphis.) TN is a nice place to live, but, I did need to go over to Arkansas every so often to remember what a mountain was.

ACK! Finals are this week and I’m totally stressed! :hair:

You’ll do fine

for those wondering, I got a B in lecture & an A in lab :woot:

WOO HOO, good job Julie!

Rosalie, good luck!! I’m sure you’ll do fine!
