Any one with the Knit Socks! book? Have a question

I am having trouble reading the pattern for the first pair of socks.

On the turning of the heel.

It says Sl 1, P__, P2tog, P1, turn

What is the P__. How do I know how many to purl?

Its probably turn however many until it takes you to get to the last stitch before the last turn. You can tell where that is b/c there should be a gap between the next two stitches.

It specifies row 1. If that helps.

How many stitches does it have you working for the heel flap?

It has 24 on the heel flap.

Actually thanks for the help, It dawned on me when I was putting my son to bed.

It had 2 numbers off to the side for different sizes, this is the number that I put into the blank.
