Any ideas how to fix this?

So, I am going along OK on this baby sweater, EXCEPT! Somehow I didn’t knit all the way through the second sleeve into the front panel. So there is a slit that I have to sew closed, and I think I can make that work, but the front panel is skinnier than it’s mate by about 1/2 inch. Ignore first photo that randomly got uploaded and can’t be deleted??? You can see the defects in the second two photos. I would have to somehow add a skinny vertical strip of stockinette to the side of the panel. Is that possible?

Here is a link to the pattern itself.

Jinx, the sweater is gorgeous, the color, the pattern, your lovely knitting and seaming. Mmm-mmm.
You could add a panel, a little wider than you need to account for seams. Since the pattern looks like the body is knit in one piece, would this be just at the underarm or all along the back and front on one side?
Or, you could ignore it. Babies are seldom standing or standing still so that you can admire the drape of a sweater.
Thanks very much for the pattern. http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/presto-chango
I agree about Cascade 220 Superwash. Wonderful yarn.

Thanks, Salmonmac! It’s a great pattern because you can knit more than one front panel and change it out when baby urps up on it.
The sweater is knit all in one piece, than sewn together under arms and down sides. The front panel buttons on. For some reason, when I was working on the sleeve and front side panel on the left side, it wasn’t completely connected (if it sounds vague, it is, because I have no idea how that happened!)But I will fiddle with it and get it to work.
The teal yarn has a teeny bit of navy blue coming through, so I’ll finish it with navy blue buttons. My first sweater, yay!

Thanks for the link to the pattern, Jinx. Your sweater is adorable, and I just love the comby of sweater and bib! unfortunately, I can’t contribute towards a fix, as I agree with salmonmac about the squirmyness of wee ones.

You know, I seamed up the sides and it actually looks reasonably OK. Once I get the buttons on I will post a picture. I was hoping for some nice buttons but in our woefully small town there is no place to get notions, may have to settle for plain ones.

BEAUTIFUL sweater!!! I love how you can switch out the front panel for a clean (or different) one!!

Great work!

Great happiness on the seaming turning out well for you. I sympathize with your button dilemma. Small towns have many charms, but wide selections of buttons and such isn’t one of them. It’s the same for me where I live.

I hate looking for buttons. My first stop is always my button jar. The GKs love going through it too. They pick out buttons for their projects or things I’m making for them. I never toss a worn out garment with buttons still on.

I’m looking forward to the FOto of the sweater!

My mom still has an old facial powder container full of buttons. I LOVED playing with them when I was a kid.
