Has anyone had success with finishing the Anny Sweater? I’m stuck! I have knitted the body to 17inches (ended on round 70).
For the sleeve, I’m supposed to knit Pattern B then Pattern A. I’ve finished Pattern B, and starting on Pattern A, but if I follow the pattern starting at Row 19 and column 7 as indicated for size medium, once I reach the 70th round on the sleeve, I’m not ending on the same row as I did for the body. Body and sleeve are supposed to end on the same row.
FYI- The 70th round on the body was row 10. The 70th round for the sleeve (including Pattern B then Pattern A) is row 4.
How do I fix this? Or is this an error in the pattern?
It looks like you knit sleeves and body up to the given row then join to work the yoke. It seems that you shouldn’t count the B pattern in the count of rounds. The sweater is adjusted so that the sleeve pattern A lines up with the body in pattern A. Since the parts then match round for round, they could then end on the same round (excluding pattern B which isn’t in the body).
Since it’s an oversize sweater, can you work the 6 extra rows so that both sweater and sleeves end on the same round?
My first thought is it needs to start the sleeve on row 4
From row 4 to 10 would be 6 rows, then change colour on next row. This would make 6 rows of first colour, and add this 6 to the 24 rows of B = 30 rows done.
Then the colour change row 11 for 20 rows (reaching row 10)
Colour change for 20 rows (reaching row 10)
Makes 70 and ends row 10.
So its B 24 plus first colour from row 4 to 10 is 30 rows
10 through to 10 is 20 rows
10 through to 10 is 20 rows
Total 70 and ending on same row as body.
However, i like long sleeves so I’d probably make the sleeves a bit longer anyway.
Also can you post a pic of the body? All the finished tops have a different number of rows at the bottom edge on sleeve and body but the full colour repeat matches after that.
Is it definitely 70 rows for both sleeve and body?
Yes, I could add an extra 6 rows which will probably only add an extra inch or so to the sleeve. Thanks!
Here’s a photo. I ended up only using 2 colors. Yes the body and sleeve are supposed to end on the same row. The instructions says to knit till you reach 17 inches, in my case it ended in row 70.
That seems easiest to me. The pattern takes pains to get the alignment in pattern A.
It’s a stunning sweater, lovely in two colors. The photo didn’t post this time so maybe give it another try.
