I want to make this cute little dress, but it bugs me that the buttons are off centered- is there a way that I can just make the button band in the middle? I have no idea how to go about doing this but it is weird to me that it is on the side.
It starts with the neckband, so I think you could just change where you place the raglan lines so that the placket is centered. The rest of the instructions don’t give stitch counts for the sections, so you just knit to the marker, do your increases, and keep working.
Another cute dress! What size are you thinking of making?
The 6-12 month size. I also recently made a beret for a baby sweater- so I think I will also make a beret to match this dress- it is so cute!
That makes sense to me- but I don’t understand how- could you write the instructions for me so the buttons will be in the middle?
This is row 5 as given in the pattern:
Row 5: s1p, (k1, p1) twice, k19, yo, k1, pm, k1, yo, k7,
yo, k1, pm, k1, yo, k24, yo, k1, pm, k1, yo, k7,yo
k1, pm, k1, yo, p1, k1, p1, k2
To center the buttonband and buttonhole band a bit more than the pattern:
Row 5: s1p, (k1, p1) twice, k10, yo, k1, pm, k1, yo, k7,
yo, k1, pm, k1, yo, k24, yo, k1, pm, k1, yo, k7,yo
k1, pm, k1, yo, k10,p1, k1, p1, k2
I’ve added a stitch to the original 19 to make 20 a number divisible by 2. (It means adding a stitch to the cast on or M1 when you get to this row. You could always leave the stitch count as is and divide as 10 and 9 rather than 10 and 10.)
Good of your to make a larger size for this little dress.
