Am I reading chart correctly?

I am just beginning the Glover Wrap by Nadya Stallings, published in Fall 2020 Interweave magazine. It has 3 charts: Left, Right and Center. The pattern is worked back and forth, not in the round. Couple questions:

  1. When working right- or left-leaning decreases on the odd rows, should I use opposite-leaning decreases on the wrong side, despite what the chart shows?
  2. The Center chart has 23 stitches, with a 20-stitch repeat. It is worked over two groups of 43 stitches, for a total of 86 stitches. I believe I am supposed to first work all 23 charted stitches, then knit the 20-stitch section boxed in red, then knit the 23 stitches, followed by 20 stitches? Appreciate any help. TIA

The line of decreases should be continuous. If it’s a k2tog on the RS, work a p2tog on the WS. If it’s ssk on the RS, work p2tog tbl on the WS. That’ll continue the line.

For the center chart, convention and the photo indicate that you work the repeat twice and then the 3 sts on the left edge of the chart. Repeat this sequence so that you’ll work 20-20-3-20-20-3.

Thank you very much! I had knitted about 20 rows, and it was definitely “off,” but wasn’t sure where I’d gone wrong, but figured it had to do with my misinterpretation of the chart. I am new to chart knitting, but I like it; just need to gain more experience. Thanks again!
