Hi, could anyone help me with what my pattern means by “decrease at neck edge on following TWO alternate rows? . I know how to decrease on alternate rows but it’s the TWO alternate rows that I’m a little confused with.
I’m thinking…
Row 1 knit
Row 2 knit
Row 3 Decrease
Row 4 Decrease
And repeat until I get to the required stitches?
Hope someone can help. Thank you
Welcome to KnittingHelp!
If the next row is row 1, the following two alternate rows would be rows 3 and 5.
The “two” is telling you how many times to dec on alternate rows.
Thank you for your quick reply but I’m really sorry I’m still a bit confused. I’m decreasing for the armhole and neck edge. This is what the pattern says.
“Dec 1 st at neck edge on next 4 rows and then 1st at this same edge on foll 2 alt rows” until 18 sets
Its the 1st at the same edge on …“foll 2 alt rows”…that is confusing me. When would I need to decrease
Thank you again for your help
These directions are only for the neck edge. There aren’t any directions here for the armhole edge.
Call the next row, row 1. Then you would decrease one stitch at the neck edge on rows 1,2,3 and 4. Decrease one stitch, again at the neck edge on rows 6 and 8.
You can assign any number to these rows but the spacing remains the same.
Thank you so much for help
