I’m just wondering if anyone has or if it’s ok to take a favourite sweater pattern and turn it into a vest. I would keep the pattern as is but would just not add the sleeves and just do ribbing at the armholes.
Would it turn out ok as I suspect it would?

I think so as long as it isn’t too loose fitting a sweater. Using ribbing to finish off the armholes is a good idea. It will close up the arm opening and look good.
Yeah, my only concern would be that the armholes for a vest might be too large, but you could adjust as you went along. Look for a vest pattern you like and use the armhole instructions from that to put on your sweater.
