Alpaca pencil roving

is 5 bucks to much for 4oz. of alpaca pencil roving? 4oz seems like such a small amount. I’ve never used alpaca, so when I compare that price to the price I pay for wool, I just don’t know.

Oh! the url is: http://cgi.ebay.com/ALPACA-ROVING-USA-FARMED-4-OUNCES-PRIME-SPINNING-L-FAWN_W0QQitemZ160042562941QQihZ006QQcategoryZ36601QQssPageNameZWD1VQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

I paid more than that for some primo baby alpaca. It all depends on quality. Alpaca is more expensive. Whenever considering fiber price I check out fiber shops. Try woolery.com or copper moose and see how they stack up.

Ah, okay.

A friend of mine tells me that she paid $2 an ounce for Suri at the fair, so I’m beginning to think that $5 for 4 ounces might not be that bad. I don’t know. The friend’s fleece that she bought was also the second place winner, so maybe… oh I don’t know.

Thank you

$1.25 for an ounce of alpaca pencil roving is a steal

But if you figure shipping in…you’re really paying about $10 for 4 oz.

True but $4-$5 an oz for good alpaca roving isn’t uncommon. For that price ($4-$5), I’d expect no VM, no nubs and an unusual color to boot.

Ah, okay. Well, I think I am going to order it anyway, just to see. Plus a friend is sending me some of hers. She bought a suri blanket that won second place at the fair so she is going to sell me some of it. Yay!
