Aldi so crafty red panda pattern help!

I’m wondering if anyone can help. I’m knitting the Aldi So Crafty Red Panda knit kit, I’ve already skipped the head and gone straight to knitting the body as the head part is also confusing. So I’m only on row 5 of this pattern. I know how to increase stitches when knitting in the middle of the row but it states to increase then knit 5 straight away. I don’t know if I need to knit the first stitch then increase, do a yarn over technique or even a knitted cast on technique. Looking through it seems to want me to increase on the first stitch throughout the pattern but doesn’t give instructions on how to do this.

Any help or ideas would be amazing

This can be confusing, both the brackets and the manner of increasing. The row has a repeat of [inc, k5] which will be repeated across the row. One way to figure out the type of increase is to look at the stitch count from the previous row.
At the end of row 4 you’ll have 24sts to work with. Divide the number sts on the needle by the number of repeats on row 5, 24 divided by 4. There must be 6sts used per repeat. That indicates to you that the increase is in a stitch. That means that an increase like a kfb will work as will a KLL or KRL (knit left loop or knit right loop). You can use your favorite increase in a stitch here. You will end the row with 28sts.

You’re very welcome - and by asking this you’ve led me (and others) to discover a cute free pattern which could still be made despite the kit no longer being available.
