A question for the experienced knitters in the group…
I’m working a k2p2 hat in the round, and it’s time to start shaping the crown. What is the best way to decrease the ribbing to make it look nice?
The way that I see it, either 1) each of the “ribs” could get smaller, or 2) I could have every other knit rib “bend over” the purl stitches and merge into a neighboring knit rib.
Does this make sense?
I’d just k2tog/p2tog and remember to knit the purls and purl the knits to keep the continuity of the ribbing. Hope that helps? :??
I think it depends on how many decreases you need to make on each round. You could purl two together and make that part of the ribbing narrower.
Well, I sort of made it up as I went along, but I’m very pleased with the results. Alternating “knit” ribs bend to the right across the “purl” ribs and join their neighboring knit rib. Hopefully, this will become apparent in the pictures below.
