Adding color for heel flap

Hello fellow knitters!

After taking a hiatus of knitting socks, I am back at it. This time I’m working on adding a new color for the heel flap (the sock is being made from the cuff down). Per the pattern, I have knit across the instep stitches (with my main color), and now I’m about to add the new color to begin constructing the heel flap. The pattern has us S1, k1. My question is, how do I go about slipping 1 sts and then knitting one, I will be left with one stitch as the MC and the other stitch with the heel color (cream). Won’t this look off?
Should I knit across the first row and then just start following the pattern on row 2 (sl the first stitch, then purl the rest)? Any tips would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Sl 1, k1 with a second color is going to give you a kind of sawtooth edge for that first row of the heel flap. Your solution should work just fine. Knit one row in the second color before the sl 1, k1 row.
Welcome back to sock knitting!
