Addicted to knitting!

I just stocked up on some more patterns and yarn and all sorts today! I had the best day ever! Now I understand why some people have a huge stash, looks like mine is shaping up to be the same!

But I don’t care! I love the look, the feel and the colours of the wool I own. I can’t wait to knit everything up, but I know I have to have it done in order! I don’t want a load of unfinished projects laying about!

How 'bout you guys? Do you finish one project before starting on the next? Or do you have a few on the go at the same time? I generally have three on the go but I’m hard pressed not to start up more !

Anyway, I posted all about my day on my blog if you’re interested. I’m just running off to dinner now so I’ll catch y’all later!

I never finish one project before I start another. I get bored too easy (an adhd knitter i suppose).

I was wondering the same thing… I really wanted to buy some yarn at a new LYS I just found but felt guilty because I am still working on my baby sweater. Since I haven’t yet selected my next project I didn’t know how much yarn I would need so I ended up not buying anything. Now I wish I had!

If you find yarn that you really love but don’t yet know what you’d do with it , how much of it would you buy?

Egeria, I love that white top! It’s beautiful. Can’t wait for you to start and post pics! I mean I like the other one too, but the front of that white one is really nice.

Jouf

I have all sorts of things going at the same time (check out the “What ‘cha knittin’?” thread… And I realized I forgot a few there!).

I also get bored with various projects. But also, I have different things to take about to different places/moods; socks are small and easy to take to school, the sweater is better for the commute to work, hats can be done any time becuase they are usually small too, and scarves are good for when I just want to knit without thinking too hard about a pattern.

As for buying random yarn, I’d buy at least two skeins… and I wouldn’t worry too much about what to make with it. You can always find some pattern to fit the ammount you have (except large garmets of course) or use the few balls combined together for multi-color/texture things. I almost never hesitate to purchase yarn when I come across something I like. Think more along the lines of, “Ooo, I wonder what I can do with this,” instead of, “Whatever will I do with this.”

I’m working on the elongated stitch scarf that Amy presented in the paterns section with yarn I bought on a whim because it was just too scrumptious… and I saved it up for the perfect pattern. I have only two skeins, but that will be more than enough for the scarf, and I might be able to get a hat or somethin out of it too.

As long as you can afford to eat, my vote is buy your fancy!

Update: So after writing this, I ran some errands and ended up picking up some new, beautiful apple green lambs wool yarn. I accidentally took my own advice

kmmcall I am forever looking at beautiful wool and wondering what I can do with it! I usually buy two skeins (unless they are buy 3 get one free!!) as I can always do a hat or scarf (or socks) with two. Although sometimes I’d buy three or more!

Jouf, I’m going to finish up my cardigan just as soon as I can then get started on the white (well, mine will be cerise) top. I want to be able to wear it when I go home in August!

Yellowness I’m the same way. I have different projects that I take to different places. Some I will knit up at work, others at class, while some stay at home. I do try to keep it to three at a time though! Otherwise I wouldn’t get anything finished! I have a huge ‘up and coming’ list that just keeps growing! That apple green wool sounds lovely, you’ll have to show us what you make with that!

Anyway, it’s a grey wintery day here in Dublin, so I’m going to stay in, wrap up, drink coffee and knit to my hearts content!
