Accidently added on a stitch.. how to take off?

Ok, I am doing a 20 cast on basket stitch, k5, P5, etc. For the first time in weeks this actually looks GOOD and I am so proud of myself! However, in the last row I did, I somehow managed to have 21 cast on. I must have added one and I don’t know how I did that!

What do I do? How do I take off the extra one I casted on? I have no idea where I did it… but I am going to guess I must have in the beginning of a row.

Any suggestions?

Count your k5s and p5s, you may have put your yarn over the needle instead of between when you switched between them. If it is at the end of a row, do a k2tog or p2tog depending on the stitch next to it. If it’s in the middle between a k5/p5 just drop it off the needle and work the loose yarn into the adjacent stitches. Or you can try to knit/purl it together with the next st.
