3-needle bind-off, uneven number of stitches

Hi gang,

I’m working on the hood of a toddler sweater, and there are 53 stitches on my needle. It says to put 1/2 on another needle and do 3-needle bind off, but that will leave one odd stitch. Should that be the last stitch, and bind it off singly, at the ‘point’ of the hood?

Guidance, please!

You could do that, but if I find that the two needles are off by a stitch, I usually knit one from one needle and two from another.

Since the three needle bind off attaches two sides, what will that single stitch be attached to?

Thanks! that helps - should I do that at the open end or the closed end of the hood?

I don’t think it makes much difference. I ususally do it as the last stitch because that’s when I find out that I have an extra one. If the front of the hood is hemmed, then there’s no chance of it showing, though I don’t think it will show much anyway.
