21sts x 33 rows?

Hi everyone, I’m back again.
This present pattern asks for 21sts x 33rows x 4 inches on 3.75 needles
I can’t find a yarn that includes all. What can I do?

What pattern? More info would be helpful and the pattern probably has it available to anyone even if it’s paid.

It might not say that exact combo on the yarn band–that’s the gauge the designer or test knitters got, and the gauge that will give you the same look as the pattern. You need to find YOUR gauge for the project.

Look for a yarn that says 20-22 sts, get out your 3.75 needles and cast on 31-33 stitches. Work enough rows for it to be square, and then measure the middle 4". If you have fewer than 21 stitches in 4", try a smaller needle. If you have more, try a larger needle. Row gauge is often less important than stitch gauge.

You often don’t have to work the whole swatch–if 33 stitches isn’t working up to be about 6", you can stop and change needles sooner, but you do need to do several rows to see how it spreads out once it’s away from the needles.

I bought the pattern on Ravelry, it’s Helmi by Isabell Kraemer.

Thank you, that’s a good idea

That’s a pretty stitch on the yoke.
Did you spot the materials recommended on the ravelry page? It may not be on the pattern

MATERIALS
Yarn: Vovó by Retrosaria Rosa Pomar (100% wool, 156 yds / 143 m – 50 g).
MC: 7 (8, 8, 9, 10) (11, 11, 12) skeins of colourway 03.
C1: 1 skein of colourway 20.
C2: 1 skein of colourway 10.

If you decide to use another yarn, you will need approx. 993 (1095, 1179, 1318, 1482) (1593, 1654, 1755) yds / 908 (1001, 1078, 1205, 1355) (1457, 1512, 1605) m of sport-weight yarn in MC, approx. 41 (43, 46, 48, 73) (77, 80, 83) yds / 38 (39, 42, 44, 67) (70, 73, 76) m of sport-weight yarn in C1 and approx. 32 (33, 35, 37, 56) (59, 61, 64) yds / 29 (30, 32, 34, 51) (54, 56, 59) m of sport-weight yarn in C2.

Needles: US 4 / 3.5 mm 16” / 40 cm and 32” / 80 cm circular needles and DPNs (for ribbing), US 5 / 3.75 mm 16” / 40 cm and 32” / 80 cm circular needle and DPNs (for body and sleeves).

There is a suggested yarn but also info for yardage in sport weight for each colour, so perhaps a sport weight in a fibre you prefer is the place to start. And then swatch for your gauge.
