Well, as I type, I am sitting in Sugar and Cream. Yuck yuck! I don’t know what I thought I was doing when I bought it, but it’s now here, in my house. AAAACKKKKK! Ohmygosh! 12 skeins of COTTON appeared in my room! :roflhard: What should I do?! I am in distress because I want WOOL, ANGORA, ALPACA, SILK, stuff like that, NOT COTTON! It just feels weird on my hands and is slightly rough. Plus my hands are really sensitive to lotions and stuff. Please help me!
Sugar and Cream is cotton not acrylic. Make your mom some dishcloths.
I wouldn’t use it for anything else, because it fades and isn’t that soft (even washed IMO although some like it), but it does great for wiping counters. :teehee:
I use it for summer tops, knit with a larger needle than dishclothes and it works out fine. Softens up the more it’s worn and washed. Only the dark colors faded, which suited me, I like them better muted. You can also make baby things with it too.

Call me nuts, but I love SnC… except that it does pill a bit if you machine wash and dry it a lot - laying flat to dry helps.
I have made wonderful baby blankets with it (nice and heavy, but not too heavy 3-season blankets, yum!) and baby clothes and LOTS of washcloths and dishtowels and dishcloths. My favorite, that I use all the time, is a simple soap sack I designed in a seed stitch. It’s nicer than a terry cloth, but not as rough as a loofah. I am trying to find a nice sweater pattern to use up a beautiful purple/blue colorway I bought last year…

As it has already been pointed out, SnC is not acrylic, but cotton, and lovely yarn that is so versatile. If it’s so yucky, I’d happily take it off your hands. 
I truly don’t understand why you’d be in such distress over having what you thought was acrylic. I realize some people don’t like it, but posts like this are what make me not want to post my FO’s that are made out of acrylic. I happen to like acrylic. Some are very soft (granted, some are not), it’s washable, and it’s cheap for people like me who cannot afford the natural, more expensive, fibers. I don’t want to feel like I have to hide the fact that I knit with acrylic because people are making threads about how “ACCCKKKKKKK” it is. 
SnC is not acrylic, but cotton, and lovely yarn that is so versatile. If it’s so yucky, I’d happily take it off your hands.

Azlynn, please don’t worry about sharing your FOs. Although a few people do have strong feelings about acrylic yarns, I think everyone would love to see what you’re knitting. And I’ve yet to see anything but support on KH for those sharing their hard work. :mrgreen:
I’ve made some string bags form Sugar and Cream that I just alllllllllllll the time. I take them shopping, to the library, sporting events, etc. and they just stretch and stretch to hold whatever I want. I even tote my knitting around in them to events. Just can’t throw real small loose items such as coins in them of course. An example is the Saturday Market bag and the Turkish string bag. If having S&C in your home stresses you tooooo much I’d gladly take it off your hands too. I think we all have made that impulsive yarn purchase at one time or another. Don’t be so hard on yourself.
Yeah, if acrylic is a crime, then lock me up! (What’s the S&C cotton, then, a misdemeanor?)
I’ve been felting a lot lately and don’t think my hands will ever get over handling all that sticky, fragile, itchy wool. Worse yet, I have two large skeins of a really pretty mohair that showed up in a local yard sale. They’ll be lovely Christmas presents if I can knit with gloves on. I know not everyone has problems with wool, but I do, some worse than others, all to some degree. I also know some people have sensitivities to acrylic, but I don’t, which means I get to knit and crochet waaaay more and can actually wear what I make! Whatever you like to use and love to handle, use it and wear it in good health. That’s all that matters.
I like SnC. As with others, I’ll gladly take it if you don’t want it. It’s great for rugs, dishcloths, totes, bath mitts. I have a really cute summer hat made with it. Just used it last night to make a pot scrubber (crocheted with cuttings from plastic mesh bags).
BTW, what lead you to believe it was acrylic?

I have a bunch of SnC that I got dirt cheap in a closeout. One thing I made so far was a handtowel, based on a dishcloth pattern. Got the idea from Ravelry, only I modified the pattern even more. I added even more repeats to each row to make it wider; knitted until it was a good length, then switched to garter stitch, made some decreases and knitted the hanger part.
I like the idea of making dishcloths, but I don’t like the idea of something I worked so hard on getting all stained and yucky in the kitchen. So I made a handtowel for the bathroom instead. 
Dishcloths in all patterns, and the knitting is good experience.
Also, bath mitts are nice, too.
I love this stuff, I have been sent s few balls and make up washcloths. Now hubby won’t use any others but the hand made ones.

I like bath mits too!! A friend of mine started knitting her bath mits with a hemp/cotton blend to make then scratchier. I’ll have to try that. I forgot all about it until this thread appeared.
Haha. I so totally KNEW that SnC is COTTON not ACRYLIC! When I say “YUCK!” most of the time it’s acrylic. My brain automatically said ACRYLIC! YUCK! Plus it gets stuck on any types of needles or crochet hooks, so thus, to me it is yucky.
