I have finished my NP&S zip front sweater and am ready to put the zipper in. I had to get a zipper that was a few inches too long in order to match the color. SOMEWHERE I read how to install a “longer than should be” zipper but don’t remember.
Does anyone know how? Do you cut the zipper? What keeps the pull from sliding off? Do you fold the zipper what keeps the bulk at the top from being annoying?
HELP
Yep–you can cut the zipper. Just make sure the pull’s above where you make your cut, though. :teehee: Then make a stop with some thread/yarn sewn across the bottom. The only problem with doing this instead of just buying a shorter zipper is that it won’t look as finished on the bottom.
It is a seperating zipper so would need to be cut at the top.
I decided to order a new zipper, with so much time and $$ invested in the sweater it just didn’t make sense to skimp on the zipper. Besides zipperstop.com is AMAZINGLY fast (only took 3 days for a custom zipper).
Good call–that’s what I’d have done!
