You know it's Christmas time when

You can actually drag your hubby into a LYS!!! :woot: :happydance:

Saturday, DH and I ventured out in the snowstorm to do some Christmas Shopping. I have wanted to get the GAAA book, and added it to my Christmas wish list - he didn’t want to order it on-line, so I suggested making a stop at my LYS on our way to the mall to see if they had it (they did!) and he actually agreed! :thud: Well, we found the book right away and he did NOT want me to browse the yarn, but I got him to let me look, just a bit, and pick out some yarn that I would make him something from, lol!

happy times

My boyfriend just helped his mother purchase yarn the other day. He works at Michaels and so she came in while he was working and purchased some yarn since I told her I’d make her a scarf if she did.

Your boyfriend works at Michaels??? Geez how is the discount? Must be nice!! :happydance:

CHJ

:woot: YAY that’s great!! I’m working on the GAAA at my LYS…I’m suppose to have 2 blocks done for our next meeting :oo:

Hmmm…so I’ll come to you when I get in over my head and start pulling my hair out!! :teehee:

The main reason I wanted the book (other than the fact that it is absolutely gorgeous and can be done square by square - less intimidating!) is that one of the square designers was taught to knit by DH’s grandmother.

What yarn are you using for it Dustinac? I havent decided on that yet…

Hi! :waving:

What’s GAAA? :??

Thanks,
Ruthie

That’s neat, I would want the book for sure then too…well I haven’t really gotten into yet, still working on that 2nd block. It’s not boring that’s for sure :teehee: . I am using Encore worsted 'cause I wanted to be able to wash it with kids/pets/etc. I haven’t decided yet on all my colors. Right now the 2 blocks are in ivory, I might make it all that way or add 2 colors in with it…

It’s the Great American Aran Afghan, here is a linkto the book on Amazon…if your on ravelry you can search it there and see very pretty blocks/afghans…and also on google

Thanks, Dusti! :waving:

How beautiful! I can see I’ll have to do some shopping for that book really soon! Thanks for the links!

Happy knitting,

Ruthie :knitting:

I have it and really like it. Its great to have even if you never make the afghan itself. I’ve used it to contribute squares to several different afghans.

I’ve also seen on Ravelry where people make pillows from the square patterns…another great option!
