Yon, yfwd and yrn????? Help please!

Hi I’m knitting a baby cardigan from Sidar pattern 3949 and am doing fine until the following row!

P1, yon, s1, k2tog, psso, yfwd, yrn, p1

I’m an English knitter and really don’t understand what the pattern is asking me to do? Can anyone Help? I’m expecting twins and really need to get a move on with these cardigans!

Yon, yfwd and yrn are all ways of making a yarn over. In the row there is a decrease of 2 sts and the yarn overs on either side increase 2 sts so that your stitch count remains the same. In American patterns the term yo is used for yarn over. British pattern are more specific about how to work the yo depending on whether it’s between 2 knits, 2 purls or a knit and a purl.
Here’s a video that explains each term. The important thing to remember is that you want to make a single loop over the needle in each case.

Thank you so much! I think I finally have it! This is a great video and very helpful!
