Hi,
I’m confused. I’m knitting some baby socks (first sock!) and the pattern reads:
Round 1: K2tog twice, (yo, k1 4x), k2tog twice, rpt to end.
I think the part that is confusing me is the (yo, k1 4x) because when the row is finsihed I have to end up with 12 stitches.
When I k2tog twice, thats 4 stitches, then at the end of the row I do that again, that would be 8 stitches. What do I do with the
(yo, ki 4x)? Wouldn’t that be 5 stitches? Or even more?
ANY help regarding this would be greatly appreciated!
Also, the k2tog is 2 stitches to start, but it’s a decrease, so you end up with 1 each time. The 4 k2tog’s take you from 8 stitches to 4 stitches. Then, if you have 4 sets of (yo, k1), that’s a total of 8 stitches (increased from 4 stitches). You start with 12 and end with 12.
THANK YOU SUE!
Thats what I was going to do but there is not enough stitches on the row to do that!
There are only 12 stitches on the row and all that would be 16 stitches. Right?
(please be patient with me: first baby sock)
There are four knit2 togethers all told. That is a reduction of four stitches. There are four yo which add four stitches. All of this leaves you with the same number of stitches you started out with.
Okay, now I get it! Thank you so much for explaining everybody.
(i’m so embarrassed!) Here I go, with any luck I will have these baby socks done before my grandbaby is born. (due date: June 18!)
THANX again,
sue
