YO for continental knitters. Confused!

I’ve already seen a YO topic on here, but I don’t understand what is YO. I’ve read the instructions, but I guess I just need to clarify. Plus I’m a continental knitter, so do you really need to YO if the instruction says to? I’m confused…

A YO is an increase, so if the pattern says to, yes you need to.
Just wrap the yarn around the right needle once and then go to your next stitch. Go to the videos, the increase section in basics, at the bottom is a YO. It can feel a little funny holding that yo on the needle when knitting continental for the next stitch, but you’ll get it!
