Yet another increase question

I seem to only have questions on the increases.

So, question #1: how do I do this: p5, [k1, yfwd]twice, k1 all into next st thus making 5 sts out of 1, turn p5, turn, k5, now slip 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 5th sts on right needle over first st

My question is about the “k1 all into next st…” bit. I don’t know understand what to do. I swear, it’s like knowing all the words, yet not being able to comprehend the meaning of the sentence.

Question #2: inc 1 st at each end of next and every following 8th row…

How do I do that increase?

Thank you for any and all help.

*[k1, yfwd]twice, k1 all into next stitch means that you will:

k1, but don’t slide it off, yfwd, knit into the same stitch again, but don’g slide if off, yfwd, knit into it again and then slide it off. You’ll have 5 in one. The one set of directions is for the one stitch. Then the next directions are worked on these 5 that you created (bobble, I assume.)

As for the edge increases, you can do a M1 increase a stitch in from the edge. That makes a nice invisible increase that’s the same on both sides. Or if you prefer, you can just kfb into the first and last stitch if the edges are going to be seamed.

Thank you so much for your reply! For the edge increases, should I do a M1R or M1L? Or should I do a m1r on the rs edge and a m1l on the ws edge?

Right side and left side I think you mean…
